"Until you make the unconscious conscious, it will direct your life and you will call it fate." - Carl Jung

Feeling overwhelmed, disconnected or stuck after trauma (especially if you’re neurodivergent)? I offer trauma counselling and Somatic counselling, which focuses on the body to help you feel calmer, more connected and in control.

I’m a trauma-trained counsellor and somatic practitioner on the Somerset-Wiltshire border, offering therapy for teens and adults who want to feel calmer, more connected, and more in control of their lives. I work in a beautiful cabin in my garden where sensory stimulation is low.

Many of the people I work with have experienced difficult or neglectful childhoods, emotionally volatile relationships, or ongoing anxiety that feels hard to shake. Some describe feeling stuck in a state of survival mode, always on alert, disconnected from themselves, or unsure of who they are beneath the coping strategies that once kept them safe.

My approach integrates Level 6 trauma training, Somatic Trauma Therapy, and Transactional Analysis, offering a balance of body-based awareness and relational understanding. Together, we work gently and at your pace to uncover how past experiences live on in the body, exploring new ways to restore safety, presence, and self-trust.

Clients often tell me that our sessions help them find words for things they’ve never been able to express, and that the calm, grounded space we create helps them begin to breathe differently, literally and emotionally. My role isn’t to fix you, but to walk beside you as you reconnect with your own capacity for healing.

Quotes from clients:

“Emma creates such a calm and accepting space. I’ve never felt judged, it’s the first time I’ve been able to talk honestly about what’s going on inside.”

“I came to therapy feeling constantly on edge. Working with Emma has helped me understand my body’s responses and find ways to regulate myself.”

“I appreciate that Emma doesn’t rush me; she lets things happen naturally, and somehow that’s when my biggest changes occurred”

“Emma’s approach helped me understand myself in a way I didn’t think was possible. I’ve learnt how to notice what I need and respond with more kindness.”

“Being neurodivergent, I’d struggled to find a therapist who really understood sensory overwhelm. Emma just gets it; she works at my pace and checks in, so I always feel in control.”

“The walk-and-talk sessions really changed things for me. Being outside made it easier to open up, and Emma’s grounding presence made me feel completely safe.”

My Approach

Grounded in the connection between the body, mind, and nervous system, I offer a gentle and collaborative approach that helps you make sense of your patterns and responses. Together, we focus on building safety, awareness, and inner stability,  creating space for lasting change and a deeper sense of connection with yourself.

I provide a neuro-affirming environment where we can talk about your specific needs for you to feel safe and comfortable.

Walk-and-Talk Therapy

For some people, being outdoors can make it easier to relax and reflect. Walk-and-talk sessions take place in peaceful, natural surroundings local to Frome and Chapmanslade, where movement and fresh air can support emotional processing and regulation. You set the pace, whether we walk, pause, or sit, allowing the environment to become part of the therapeutic process.

What to Expect

  • Your first session: This is an assessment session where we explore what’s brought you to counselling, your history, and what you hope to gain from therapy. Depending on the amount to be covered, this may require one or two sessions.

  • Working together: Sessions are available in-person, online, or as walk-and-talk therapy, whichever feels most comfortable and supportive for you.

  • My approach is rooted in the connection between the body, mind, and nervous system. We work gently and at your pace to help you understand your patterns and responses, build safety, and develop inner resources.

  • Your pace matters: Therapy unfolds in the way that feels right for you;  there’s no rush or expectation to share more than you’re ready to.

Fees

  • £65 per 50-minute session (in-person or online)

  • £90 per 60-minute walk-and-talk session (locations local to Chapmanslade)

Payment and Cancellation

Sessions are payable monthly in advance. Sessions cancelled with less than 48 hours’ notice are chargeable in full.

I offer a complimentary 15-minute consultation to explore how therapy can support you.
